Our Adoption Journey

Wednesday, January 03, 2007

It is now OFFICIAL!!!! After a crazy 24 hours we have official custody of Haden. We met this morning with the officials for the communist party and they issued the documents for us to travel with him. We then flew back to Hanoi and are back at our hotel. We now have a meeting with the US Emabassy in the morning at 9 am. At that point we will know what the process will be to get all of us home.

The photo is from the Communist Party Headquarters in Da nang. I would never have guessed that I would be there!

Praise God!! I have tears running down my face. It's now time to change our prayers to the next phase of your journey. We pray that the next step will not take long and that you all can travel back together with Haden. He is such a beautiful baby and we can't wait to see him. Tell Hanna she looks like a very "big" girl in that picture and that we are so proud of her. Haden will be honored to have her as a "big" sister. We love you all and miss you bunches. Good Luck at the Embassy.

Jennifer

PS: Tell Hanna that Kayla keeps asking for pictures of her more than Haden!! She misses her lots!!

Jeff,

Really excited and great news!!! You're on the way home now! Looking forward to seeing y'all in March. I am inviting myself and Allison.

BTW, can you pick up some camel while you are there? I found a receipe that I can make for us:

Camel Fillet with a Shiraz Butter Glaze

Degree of difficulty: Low

You need:
1 camel fillet trimmed of sinew and cut into medallions
olive oil
butter
4 small onions, sliced
1 carrot, finely chopped
250 ml shiraz or other red wine
250 ml beef stock
camel trimmings

Method:
To make the glaze, put olive oil and onions, carrots and celery in a pan and fry until slightly brown. Add cut up camel trimmings and cook until brown. Then add wine and beef stock. Simmer for approximately 30 minutes. Strain and whisk in butter pieces until the liquid has a buttery glaze.

Brush camel fillet with olive oil and grill to your taste.

To serve pour shiraz butter glaze onto a plate, arrange camel medallions in a pyramid shape and serve with tossed salad.

I'll always have your back,

Jim

Jim and Allison are making that Camel sound mighty fine. I guess if you arrange the Camel in a pyramid shape on your plate, it might almost look like a camel. How devine. Well it's nearly midnight there and I'm trusting you are asleep. I'm believing things will go well at the Embassy in the morning. Love you.

This is so exciting. I can't believe he is officially a Hicks. What a blessing. I hope Haden knows how lucky he is to be raised by such wonderful parents and to have such a sweet big sister to look up to. I'm glad to know your journey is almost over. It will be so good to have all you back home. We are missing you so much. Praying for a speedy return.
Love you all,
Jamey

PS. Macie said to tell Hanna she loves her outfit she is wearing in the picture.

Our God is a mighty mighty God! The word official sounds wonderful. Now let's hope that no delay comes from our own embassy. That will be our new prayer for the Hicks family.
May your journey back be much much sooner than anyone anticipated!
Hanna and Haden will be tired of all of the hugs and kisses awaiting them back in the USA-from Texas all the way to NC!
Love and Godspeed

Do they have high quality H20 in Da Nang? I'm still trying to figure out why I wasnt invited to your blog?

Anyway sides being hurt I am elated that you have em. He's beautiful! Make sure you give him plenty of water, you dont want him to suffer from the dehydrations. Also my mama said to stay away from Camel filet..they are the Debil! Stick with Hog Mogs and aligator stew.

Peace.

Is this the next step?

Adoptive Parent(s) will apply for a Vietnamese passport for the child from the Immigration Police in the province where the child resides. The provincial Immigration Police will mail the application to the Central Police Immigration office in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City where the passport will be issued and printed. The central office (Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City) has seven days to print the passport, then will mail the passport back to the provincial Immigration Police office. A Vietnamese passport costs VND 250,000 and may take 5 days to 2 weeks.

The Child must have a valid Vietnamese passport before the medical examination with the Panel Physician.

Everybody pray...

Actually, this is Jerry.

Haden Hicks is so cute!!! He'll fit into the Hicks family perfectly.

GOD is sooo good!!! All the time!!!

I bet ya'll can't stop staring at him.

Haden Hicks is a cool sports name.

"Now batting, Shortstop Haden Hicks!", or,

"9 yard gain by Quarterback Haden Hicks". or,

"GOOAAALLLL by Haden Hicks!!!!"

BTW, any kind of Squash sounds pretty good compared to CAMEL. yuck !!!

Did you have to make any Communist Party alliances? Are you still eligible to work the polls in Pearland?

We've been praying for you guys, and love and miss ya'll.
