Our Adoption Journey

Thursday, January 18, 2007

Dedra called me somewhere around midnight to tell me that they were in LA and were on the way to the next flight. Haden did well so our prayers were answered as they flew over the Pacific Ocean. God is good all the time!

I am up now and getting ready for the drive to Charlotte. To all our family and friends in Texas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma, we are going to get the winter that you have had starting ... This morning. So in the possible icy conditions several of us are going to drive to pick up our precious travelers. We will make sure to get some photos and I will try to post those when we have a chance today.

The finished flight and a 80 mile trip in the car and Dedra will finish her part of the journey that has taken our family over 20,000 miles to bring home our beautiful baby boy! (I am very tired right now, but, can I say beautiful in regards to a baby boy?)

I will post when we get home and the celebrations can begin!

I was just getting ready to go lay down and thought I would see if we had any news. Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!we did. Jeff I tried to not call today and I made i. I am going to pray harder than I have ever prayed before, that you have no trouble getting home. I hope and pray that you don't get this TX, weather until at least you get home with the last of the cargo. It has been horrible here. I have been pretty much house bound since Saturday when the first round hit us.Nothing at our house thawed out before the second round hit.
Dedra please call me as soon as you can.I will try to wait until you call me as I know you are going to want to have so time to get Haden settled in and try to get some kind of routine established for the four of you. Be very careful taking Haden out in the cold as he will be very suseptible to getting all of that stuff again, with the changes in the temp, weather etc.
I just can't stand being where I can't just run up to Houston and help and to give you some time to get some rest.I know you and Jeff must be exhausted from all the changes you have gone through. We will all continue to pray that the transition goes well for all.

Hanna now you get your chance to be a real BIG SISTER!!!!! Mommy and Daddy are going to need your help more than ever now.Be sweet and give your little Brother some big HUGS and lots of kisses for Poppy and me.I can't hardly wait until it is time for me to come to NC.I want you to tell me everything about your trip. I also hope you and I can do some sewing when I get there. Maybe we can sew something for Haden.

It is 4:00 here and I guess I will try to lay down and get some rest.

Love Poppy and Mom

Yes, our prayers are continually being answered and I pray this morning for His hands to surround you all as you travel to pick up our precious cargo and for the safe return to the Hicks Happy Home. What an awesome journey this has been and I can't thank you enough for allowing so many of us to participate every step of the way. Haden is a beautiful baby boy, (it's not issue whether or not you're tired)and Hanna is a beautiful little girl and God has chosen two of the most incredible people in all the world to be the parents of both beautiful children. We can't wait to see all of you in April but for now, get some much needed rest, celebrate for us in the most wonderful homecoming ever and God's continued blessings on the Hicks family.

We love you and miss you,
Aunt/Graunty Vivi

The snow here is Jamestown is beautiful and quite a treat for this blessed homecoming. Maybe it will stay a pretty snow and leave the ice off.....at least until everyone is safely home.
We cannot wait to hear from the Hicks Family or the caravan that went to Charlotte at 4:15 this morning.

I found this scripture in my devotionals today and it is so true of Dedra's journey the past 6 days
No testing has overtaken you that is not common to everyone. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tested beyond your strength, but with the testing he will also provide the way out so that you may be able to endure it.
- 1 Corinthians 10:13 (NRSV)

So glad your journey is over and you are back home.

It was great to hear Haden did so well on the flight. Hanna, I can only imagaine how excited you are to have your baby brother home with you and your parents.

Dedo and & Jeff - we love you guys and are so happy for you. I cannot wait to see photos of everyone back home, but please get some good rest first!

Love you-
